Dagarvani Dhrupad Concert with Pt Uday Bhavalkar

Pt Uday Bhawalkar is a brilliant Dhrupad vocalist and belong to one of Dhrupad's oldest and most illustrious musical lineages (Dagar Vani). He received his training from Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar and Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, the renowned Dhrupad masters. Dhrupad is a living and evolving classical music tradition and Uday has developed a unique style deeply embedded in raga rasa and bhaav. This brings a creative melodic addition to the precise intonation and pronunciation characteristic to the Dhrupad style.

Uday ji has an engaging style and is able to reach out and communicate with audiences of all backgrounds. Since his first performance at Bhopal in 1985, Uday ji has performed in a number of prestigious festivals and events in India and abroad. His workshops have been hosted by Universities in India, Europe and the USA. Uday ji became an empanelled Guru at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata. He has also received prestigious awards including the Kumar Gandharva Samman given by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh (2001).
